Singer Sewhandy Model 20 – Original Pastry – RARE The Singer Featherweight Shop

This rare, original, tan (we’re calling it Pastry) Sewhandy is a very rare find indeed! It is near match to the tan Featherweights making it extremely collectible. We have only ever seen a few of these here in the shop. See the photos comparing it to the Tan Featherweight and the other Sewhandys on the brown spectrum.

Completely serviced, cleaned and tested by the Featherweight Shop, this Sewhandy is so vibrant.  With all original paint, this one is in good condition, and we have given it a grade 7; the badge and decals are clear and bright, and there is some minor paint wear – primarily near where the clamp is secured and around the edge of the cloth plate.

Black and Brown were the most common colors for the Sewhandys, but they can occasionally be found in rare colors like this one. This Sewhandy was produced in France, and the Sewhandys of this color are almost never seen here in the USA.

This will be an excellent piece for the experienced sewing machine collector or a young collector just getting their start. (Christian first learned to sew on a Sewhandy at age 4.)  It will be a treasured machine for anyone to pass on to future generations.  

Ready to sew right out of the box:  Oiled, serviced, and tested.  A chain-stitch sample is included for your assurance of it being ready to sew.  The machine has been serviced, and the tension has been calibrated, so you won’t have to worry about tension when you sit down to sew for the first time. 

A Singer model 20 is the perfect machine for a child to learn on with it’s numbered threading system, finger guard, and reliable metal mechanics.  The Sew handy is a chain-stitch machine, so it does not use a bobbin or bobbin case, making it even easier to use.  The needle finger guard makes sewing with small hands near the needle much safer, and the needle can’t be removed by hand like most household machines – it must be changed with a screwdriver, thus assuring adult supervision.
