First, because this type of belt is thick, stiff and adds more strain to the motor, it is not our recommend belt for the Singer Featherweight 221 or 222. This belt is thicker, more rigid, and what we call the “old replacement style” black belt. *It is not like the original Singer Featherweight belts at all, but we recognize that there are still some who prefer the parts that have been on the market in the past 20 years or so. Therefore, we keep a few of these on hand and available.
History: In the nearly two decades that we had to use these replacement style belts (because that was all that was available), we received countless emails and phone calls from customers with complaints. It lagged the motor, couldn’t be properly adjusted and was just too thick and stiff for the Featherweight. It was often said to us “if only you could invent a softer, faster belt!” Because of this feedback, we spent several years researching and developing the SUPERBELT, now available in Black or White. (See video below for speed comparison as well as the installation and proper adjustment of the Superbelt.)
