Singer Blackside Featherweight 221 with a serial number of AG011*** indicates commission date of July 1, 1941 – almost 74 years old! Machine is given a grade 8 – see photos for beautiful shiny finish and detail.
This Featherweight 221 sewing machine has been given the term “Blackside Featherweight” because of some color variances to their standard parts, particularly the faceplate. Click here to read more about it on our blog.
Singer made other accessories and attachments that had the blackside finish, too, but the attachments did not necessarily have that particular finish when originally suited with the Blackside machine. One blackside machine may have attachments that are blackside while another may have chromium and still another with a mixture of the two. The blackside value is not nearly as influential on attachments, however, as it is to a bona fide Singer Blackside Featherweight 221 Sewing Machine. Quantity, peculiarity, and Featherweight collectibility all play a factor in determining the value of a machine like this. Plus, this one is in outstanding condition!
