Singer Featherweight 221K, Rare MR – EF565*** Original Receipt! The Singer Featherweight Shop

Our machine shipping staff is out of the shop the week of March 1st-7th; machines will not ship out until the following week.

We are very excited to add this lovely 221K to the site.  Completely serviced, cleaned, polished, electrically inspected, timed, tuned and sampled – rest assured, this Featherweight 221 will be ready to sew right out of the case.  Powerful original 110v motor with a quiet, smooth stitch. 

Many of you might be wondering, “what is “MR” and why does it make this Featherweight rare?”  During the late 1940s and very early 1950s, Singer sent a few Featherweights to be sold in Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets primarily in South America.  The very few machines that were sold or intended to be sold there were marked with the “MR” decal to trademark the “Singer” name in those foreign countries.  “MR” stands for Marcas Registradas which translates from Portuguese to “Registered Trademark”. You can still find the “MR” symbol today often on Coca-Cola products bottled in Mexico.  Included with this machine is the original receipt!  It is difficult to tell the original purchaser’s information, but the machine was purchased on March 24th, 1953.  For 550 of an unspecified currency.

   
EF565*** indicates an original production commission date of November 7th, 1949,  and it is given a Grade 7+.  Be sure to click on any image far above to view the close-up details of this Singer Featherweight machine. It is in beautiful condition with a slight amount of decal wear.

Are you a Quilter?  Additional Quilting Attachments can be purchased, and if you need any Fashion Aids for apparel or ornamental sewing (i.e. Buttonholer, Blind Stitcher, etc…), we will prepare samples for those as well should you decide to purchase them separately.

You can also rest knowing that the Original Bobbin Case is most definitely included, assuring you of an original quality stitch all these years later.  It is a delightful thought to think about some of the possible things that were lovingly sewn on this machine in its lifetime.  What will you add to its sewing repertoire – quilts? Apparel?  Whatever you sew, I’m sure your new Featherweight machine will be well-loved for many, many more years of sewing life.

The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so you won’t have to worry about tension when you receive your machine, but having a numbered tension dial will make it easier to set it back should you need to adjust it for any reason.

You will notice that this machine is fitted with a scrolled faceplate and the original case includes the tray for holding the box of attachments, etc..
