Singer Featherweight 221K Sewing Machine, EE458*** – 1948 – RARE Motor The Singer Featherweight Shop

This Singer Featherweight 221K is in great condition, and it was commissioned on January 22nd, 1948!  Cleaned and serviced inside and out – this 221 will be ready to sew right out of the case.  This machine is fitted with an original 220-volt motor that has been rewound to work at 110-volt power with optimum speed and torque.  A converter is not needed in the U.S. or Canada.  This machine is given a Grade 7.

This machine features the unique gold ‘S’ Bakelite motor.  These rare motors were made in the U.S.A., Canada, and Great Britain with this machine having one of the 110v U.S.A. ones – far less common than those made in Great Britain. The 221 manual accompanying this machine depicts the Bakelite band motor on page 27. Also originally installed on this machine is the first style faceplate issued on the 221K machines, which has the same scroll pattern as the 1933-1937 Featherweight 221 machines.

The Original Bobbin Case is included, adhering to originality all these years later.  The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so tension is already properly set; however, tension can easily be adjusted depending on fabric needs.

The machine is fitted with an original scrolled faceplate and the original case includes the top tray for holding the attachments.
