Singer Featherweight 221K Sewing Machine EF564***, RARE Great Britain Decal – Fully Restored in Gloss Black The Singer Featherweight Shop

This Singer Featherweight 221K is absolutely stunning in Gloss Black with gold decals!  Completely restored inside and out – this Featherweight 221K will be ready to sew right out of the case.  This machine is fitted with an original 220-volt motor that has been rewound to work at 110 voltage optimum speed and torque.  A voltage converter is not needed in the USA or Canada.  Be sure to click on any image above to view the beauty of this machine and restoration quality.  EF564*** indicates an original commission date of November 7th, 1949.

What makes this Featherweight unique?

This Featherweight is distinguished by the ‘Manufactured in Great Britain’ decal on the back of the machine arm.  A similar decal (composed in French) was frequently placed on 221 Featherweights sold in France.  It is not clear why Singer added this origin country decal when a machine would be sold in the UK, but they are certainly difficult to come by, as this is the first machine we have ever sold that bears this extra decal.  

When we first received this machine, it was in very poor condition. (See photos marked ‘before restoration’ for detail.)  Knowing the rarity of a machine with this decal, we decided to give it a complete restoration.  There was not a replacement ‘Manufactured in Great Britain’ decal, so we started with the tedious process of recreating each of the decal’s letters in a design program, so that a replacement decal could be printed. Each one of our restored and repainted Featherweights receives hours of personal care in its disassembly, painting process, reassembly, stitch sampling and overall preparation for each and every customer.

To guarantee the authenticity of this restoration, we took photos showing the machine, the decal, and the serial number before restoration, and those photos can be seen in this listing.  To protect the future buyer, we have covered up the last number of the serial number in the photos, but the intricacies in the stamping of each number can be identified in both the before and after photos.

The Original Bobbin Case is included, adhering to originality all these years later.  The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so tension is already properly set; however, tension can easily be adjusted depending on fabric needs.

The machine is fitted with an original scrolled faceplate and the original case includes the top tray for holding the attachments.
