Singer Featherweight 221K Sewing Machine, RED “S” ES247*** The Singer Featherweight Shop

We are very excited to add this lovely “Red S” Featherweight 221K to the site.  Completely serviced, cleaned, polished, electrically inspected, timed, tuned, and sampled – rest assured, this Featherweight 221 will be ready to sew right out of the case.  Powerful rewound 110v motor with a quiet, smooth stitch.  Many of you might be wondering, “what does the “K” mean after the 221?”  That ‘K’ simply means the machine was manufactured at the Kilbowie, Clydebank, Scotland SINGER plant.  During the last three years of production of the black Singer Featherweights (1959-1961), a “Red S” emblem was issued rather than the standard gold-colored badge.

ES247*** indicates an original production commission date of January 10, 1961, and is given a Grade 8.  Be sure to click on any image far above to view the close-up details of this Singer Featherweight machine.  The machine is in beautiful condition with only a couple of tiny paint chips where the faceplate screw meets the bed.

 Are you a Quilter?  Additional Quilting Attachments can be purchased here, and if you need any Fashion Aids for apparel or ornamental sewing (i.e. Buttonholer, Blind Stitcher, etc…), we will prepare samples for those as well should you decide to purchase them separately.

You can also rest knowing that the Original Bobbin Case is most definitely included, assuring you of an original quality stitch all these years later.  It is a delightful thought to think about some of the possible things that were lovingly sewn on this machine in its lifetime.  What will you add to its sewing repertoire – quilts? The machine has been serviced and calibrated for quilter’s cotton, so you won’t have to worry about tension when you receive your machine, but having a numbered tension dial will make it easier to set it back should you need to adjust it for any reason.

You will notice that this machine is fitted with a striated faceplate and the original case includes the tray for holding the box of attachments, etc..
